Snapshot
Jasper took its name from the National Park within which it lies and has been around since its inception as a fur trading post over 100 years ago. The Canadian train runs through this tourist town on its voyage across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver and brings many visitors to experience the charm of this mountain town. Tourism is the key industry in this town and provides a launching point for both summer and winter adventures in the Rocky Mountains.
Nearby Maligne Lake hosts some beautiful natural scenery or for a bird’s eye view the Jasper Sky Tramway takes visitors to an altitude of 7,472ft where on a clear day views of up to 80km can be had. Wildlife spotting is relatively easy with deer and other animals wandering around the streets of this Canadian Rockies town. If you want to see a Bear without danger there is a statue of “Jasper” a short walk from the historic train station.
