The Galapagos Islands inspired Charles Darwin to develop the theory of evolution. Today you can follow in his footsteps and discover the unique and diverse wildlife of the islands. This short cruise package can be added to any of our Latin American experiences. The islands are located about an hour flight from the mainland making it a great addition to any Ecuador tour.
A visit to the Galapagos Islands is best seen from the water. For a quick overview, here is a snapshot of what is included in the program:
The day begins with a flight from mainland Ecuador (Quito or Guayaquil) to Baltra airport on the Galapagos Islands. On arrival your guide will meet you at the arrivals gate and the ship’s crew will take care of your luggage. After a short journey you’ll soon board your yacht for your island hopping tour of the Galapagos Islands.
As the crew weighs anchor you’ll be provided with an orientation on board and be offered a light snack. Our first stop will be at Playa Las Bachas. On an island dedicated to the Galapagos National park, we visit the stunning Flamingos lagoon. During all walks on the various islands, your guide will be explaining details about the lives of the birds and animals.

Later in the day there is time for those who would like to swim and snorkeling in these majestic waters. In the evening your naturalist guide will provide an orientation about the Galapagos Islands in general. They will explain the origin and evolution of the islands. To finish your first day enjoy a welcome cocktail with the entire crew, and experience your first onboard dinner.
After breakfast onboard, guests take a journey on a ‘panga boat’ to explore Prince Phillips’s Steps (Barranco). Pangas provide a different perspective on the islands from large yachts or catamarans. These smaller inflatable boats have the ability to get up-close to wildlife and access sites that large vessels cannot. Once on the island, you’re guided walk observe the interesting lives of the birds here.
There is ample time for those who would like to swim and snorkel or kayak before returning to the yacht for a delicious lunch. Later in the afternoon, you make a wet landing on Darwin Bay to walk and observe frigate birds, herons, mockingbirds, boobies, shorebirds, turtles and marine iguanas. We return to the yacht to freshen up before dinner is served onboard. After dinner you’ll learn about the many conservation efforts made to protect these unique islands.

Today we disembark at the pier of the South Plaza. This site is famous for watching the antics of the sea lions that call the Galapagos home. A walk through a cactus forest allows us to observe land iguanas and many species of tropical birds. We return to the Yacht for lunch before visiting Santa Fe Island. This island is home to a cactus forest and a colony of land iguanas, native toSanta Fe.
Each day provides ample time for those who would like to swim, snorkel or kayak. At the end of the afternoon, we return to the Yacht for dinner and our nightly discussion on the events of the day with your naturalist guide.
Waking up on board you’ll enjoy your final breakfast and make a dry landing at San Cristobal port. We leave our yacht and drive to the Jacinto Gordillo Interpretation Centre. Designed to educate visitors on the breeding programs, the centre aims to maintain the unique species on the island. You’ll be transferred to the local airport to catch your flight back to the mainland in the early afternoon.
What’s included and not included in this Galapagos Cruise is pretty clear. We like to keep things simple, so you won’t find page after page of terms and conditions. (Although we are required to have some to protect both you and us).
For this program, we include 3 nights’ accommodation. If we say we include an activity in the itinerary above, then we include it. Optional activities or what we suggest you could do in your free time are just that – optional and not included. We have tried to include as much as possible so you get the best experience possible.

This highlight tour of Peru and Ecuador provides first time visitors to Latin America with experiences from mountain tops to the depths of the Amazon.

As with everything we do, this Santiago stopover package can, and will be fully tailored for you. This is a taste of what you could do, and what we’ve done ourselves in Santiago.
