Hotel Sigiriya

Hotel Sigiriya is located opposite the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and has one of the best views of the rock of any hotel in the area. Built into the jungle, there is a lagoon which is often filled with lotus flowers between the hotel and Sigiriya Rock allowing for unspoilt views and great photo opportunities. Until recently elephants may occasionally wander into the hotel grounds however  improvements to the fencing protecting the elephants from the village now mean only smaller animals, including some very friendly squirrels visit the hotel.

Despite being one of the earliest hotels in Sigiriya the hotel has kept up with changing styles and the rooms are well fitted out for today’s travellers. Most rooms have double doors that open out to the gardens and are all only a short walk to the main lobby and restaurant buildings. The rooms are air-conditioned and also have ceiling fans to ensure a great nights sleep.

Hotel Sigiriya Sri Lanka TourAll common areas of the hotel including the lobby bar and restaurant are open air with fans keeping a good circulation of fresh air for those relaxing after a good days touring. The pool is the centrepiece of the hotel gardens with stunning views from the lobby, across the pool to Sigiriya Rock. The restaurant serves all meals while the lobby bar can make some lovely mocktails or for those who want a little kick, a great selection of cocktails.

The property is a short walk from the village which has local stores a few small restaurants, local trinket shops and small operators providing local village tour experiences. For those who don’t want to adventure out, the hotel also has a day spa attached to it offering a range of local Ayurveda experiences.
